(Cochrane, AB) – With the holiday season just around the corner, preparations are underway for Cochrane's 42nd annual Light Up event. The Town of Cochrane and the Light Up committee are calling on local volunteers, businesses and community organizations to help bring this beloved holiday tradition to life.
Taking place Saturday, November 28, from 5 to 8 p.m., Cochrane Light Up will transform Historic Downtown and The Station at Cochrane Crossing into a festive celebration featuring dazzling lights, live entertainment, outdoor holiday movies, family-friendly activities, return of fireworks and more.
"For 42 years, Cochrane Light Up has been about more than just the lights. It's about the people who come together to make something special happen for our community," says Michelle Ambrose, Director of Parks and Active Living, Town of Cochrane. "From volunteers lending a hand to local businesses and organizations stepping up to support the event, every contribution helps create the holiday magic that Cochrane looks forward to each year."
This year, there are several ways for the community to get involved:
Volunteer: Residents of all ages can help bring Light Up to life by supporting event preparations, activities and more.
Become a sponsor: Local businesses can support this longstanding community tradition through a variety of sponsorship opportunities while connecting with residents and contributing to the festivities.
Sign up to be a Light Up Elf: Community groups and organizations can receive a $300 donation by providing six to eight volunteers to assist with event preparations, activities and cleanup.
Residents, businesses and community organizations interested in getting involved are encouraged to learn more and register at cochranelightup.com.
