Description

An accessible multi-sport court facility is being generously donated to Cochrane by Project Jumpstart. The project includes site grading, construction of sturdy foundations for play courts. Additionally, the installation of electrical service and lighting infrastructure is part of the plan to provide essential amenities for the facility.

The multi-sport court includes:

  • sport and para sport court lines for basketball, tennis, ball hockey, volleyball, pickleball and badminton
  •  fixed-height  and adjustable-height basketball nets
  • self-guided play area 
  • contrasting colours to support visual impairment
  • shaded double-wide benches for improved
    accessibility
  • wheelchair-accessible seating and tables
  • barrier-free entry points

Project updates 

  • Cochrane celebrated the opening of the Jumpstart Inclusive Multi Sport Court on July 16, 2025. The courts are now open for drop-in use. 
  • Final landscaping will be completed in 2025.  Please used paved pathways to access the court.

How does this project benefit the community?

This project provides additional recreational opportunities and a sports facility for all abilities.

The Jumpstart Inclusive Multi Sport Court, created in partnership with Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities (Jumpstart), is an accessible play space designed to remove physical and social barriers to play, Children of all abilities can enjoy this shared space. 

The Jumpstart Inclusive Multi Sport Court has barrier-free access and enhanced visibility, as well as provide room for accessible and standard sports such as basketball, sitting volleyball, pickleball and wheelchair tennis. 

The court is available during the season on a drop-in basis, Monday-Saturday 8 a.m.- 9 p.m. and Sundays and statutory holidays 9 a.m.- 9 p.m.  Jumpstart Courts will close for the season annually on October 31.

Water accumulating on the street? 

You may be located near a trap low. Trap lows are a part of the stormwater storage system, allowing water to pool on roads, lanes and in greenspaces.

It may appear that the street is flooding up to and, sometimes, including some of your driveway or lawn. It is not.
