We know that traffic congestion in Cochrane has been a concern for our community. But there’s good news: we’ve made significant progress, and we’re committed to continuing improvements that will ease traffic flow, enhance safety, and support future growth.
What’s Been Done
Several key projects have already been completed, improving the local road network and providing immediate relief:
- Highway 1A Improvements project: This section of Highway 1A was widened to increase capacity and improve traffic flow.
- Centre Avenue: In 2024, phase three of Centre Avenue improvements was completed, providing better connections and smoother access across the community.
- Griffin Road Upgrades & Jack Tennant Memorial Bridge: These projects have enhanced access to the community, supporting both local and regional traffic movement.
What’s Happening Now
The Highway 1A/22 Interchange Upgrade is well underway and is set to significantly reduce congestion in the area. Scheduled for completion in 2025, this major project will improve traffic flow, enhance safety, and provide much-needed capacity for both local and through traffic.
The Road Ahead
While the Highway 1A/22 Interchange upgrades are being finalized, there are more projects to come to ensure Cochrane’s transportation network continues to evolve to meet the needs of the growing community. We remain committed to a comprehensive, multi-phase approach to improving traffic infrastructure.
