Cochrane brings back jacket racket inspiring the community to share winter warmth

Cochrane’s annual Jacket Racket is back for another year. The free community event aims to alleviate the costs associated with seasonal apparel by providing a selection of gently used winter wear for all ages. Between October 1-15, Town of Cochrane, Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) and the Family Resource Network (FRN) will be collecting donations of gently used winter clothing and Halloween costumes.

Interested residents can drop off their clothing items for donation at one of the nine convenient donation bins located throughout Cochrane.

  • BGC Cochrane
  • Bow Valley Credit Union
  • Cochrane Alliance Church
  • Cochrane RancheHouse
  • Cochrane Safeway
  • Family & Community Support Services (FCSS)
  • Family Resource Network (FRN)
  • SLS Centre
  • Bragg Creek Community Centre

"As the cost continues to rise, the Jacket Racket program has never been more vital," says Kim Krawec, Manager of Family & Community Support Services. " Last year it provided warmth and comfort to more than 550 adults and children in our community. With the need continuing to grow, we expect even more families will rely on this support. Your donations of jackets, hats, scarves, mittens, gloves, snowsuits and boots in all sizes truly make a difference. Together, we can ensure everyone in Cochrane stays warm, safe and cared for this winter."

This year’s Jacket Racket event will take place on Saturday, October 18, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the Cochrane Alliance Church (902 Glenbow Drive). Cochrane and area residents can shop for free, gently used, winter wear and a selection of donated costumes just in time for Halloween.
