(Cochrane, AB) – At the February 23 Council meeting, Council approved the FCSS Advisory Board’s 2026 FCSS/United Way Partnership Grant funding recommendations. In total, $85,621 in grant funding was approved to support local programs that respond to community needs, with priorities guided by local data highlighting essential needs and mental health.
These community grants, developed through the long-standing partnership between the Town, FCSS and United Way, support a range of local non-profit organizations that address key social needs for residents and families in Cochrane and surrounding areas. Funding decisions are guided by community priorities, FCSS and United Way mandates and a comprehensive review process undertaken by the Advisory Board.
This year, Council approved funding for several local groups working in areas such as food security, newcomer services, housing supports, volunteer training and social inclusion. The funding will help strengthen community connections, enhance access to supports and build resilience across the community.
“We’re proud to see this funding going directly into programs that help people feel supported and connected in Cochrane,” said Matt Knox, Director of Social Development. “With Council’s endorsement of the FCSS Advisory Board’s recommendations, these grants will strengthen local services, helping residents access essentials, build resilience and stay socially connected, while supporting the community organizations doing that work every day.”
Funding is made possible through the combined contributions of the Town’s FCSS budget and the United Way partnership.
