Cochrane’s shared micro-mobility program will return when weather conditions allow, offering residents and visitors convenient e-scooters for the 2026 season. Delivered in partnership with Bird, the program supports short, local trips and provides an additional transportation option that complements driving, walking and cycling.
Available throughout Cochrane, including Historic Downtown and the Quarry, shared micro-mobility helps residents connect to businesses, services, parks and pathways. The program offers a convenient way to move around the community while encouraging residents and visitors to explore local destinations.
The program aligns with the vision of Envision Cochrane 2050 and the Town’s commitment to sustainability. By encouraging alternative modes of transportation, shared micro-mobility supports efforts to reduce traffic congestion, lower emissions and create a more connected community.
“As Cochrane continues to grow, providing flexible ways for people to move around the community is increasingly important,” says Angie Basha, Community Liaison, Planning and Partnerships, Parks & Open Spaces. “Shared micro-mobility offers residents and visitors a convenient way to access parks, pathways and local destinations while supporting the Town’s broader transportation and sustainability goals.”
Safety and responsible use remain key to the program’s success. Riders must be 16 years of age or older and follow provincial traffic laws and local bylaws. Helmets are strongly recommended. Users are required to park devices responsibly and keep sidewalks, pathways and bike lanes clear to ensure accessibility for all residents, including pedestrians, cyclists and those using mobility aids.
The shared micro-mobility season runs through the warmer months, weather permitting. For program details, device locations, riding guidelines and safety information, visit cochrane.ca/e-scooter..
