Positive tickets for safe and responsible choices
Recognizing youth who make safe and responsible choices in our community. The Positive Ticket Program recognizes youth who demonstrate safe, responsible and community-minded behaviour in Cochrane. The program focuses on prevention, education and positive connection, encouraging safe choices while building trust between youth and local enforcement.
Led by Cochrane Municipal Enforcement, the program is delivered in partnership with the RCMP and the Southern Alberta Regional Victim Serving Society (SARVSS). Together, these partners support youth and strengthen community safety by recognizing positive actions in everyday situations.
How the program works
Throughout the summer, Municipal Enforcement officers and RCMP members may issue Positive Tickets to youth observed demonstrating safe and respectful behaviour in the community.
Examples of behaviours that may be recognized include:
- Practicing safe riding on bikes or e-scooters
- Wearing a helmet while riding
- Following pathway and traffic safety rules
- Showing respect for others in public spaces
- Demonstrating positive, community-minded behaviour
Each ticket includes a small reward provided by participating local businesses. The program reinforces positive behaviour and recognizes youth who help create a safe and welcoming community.
Safety on pathways, bikes and e-scooters
Many of the behaviours recognized through the Positive Ticket Program take place while youth are enjoying Cochrane’s pathways and public spaces. Choosing to ride safely, wear a helmet and follow pathway rules helps keep our community safe and welcoming for everyone.
