Cochrane residents are invited to connect, recharge and prioritize their well-being during Mental Health Week, May 3–9, 2026, with a full schedule of free and affordable community events focused on connection, learning and support.
Led by Cochrane Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) in partnership with local organizations, the week features activities and resources designed to spark meaningful conversations, reduce stigma and provide practical ways for residents to support their mental health.
Mental Health Week is part of a national campaign led by the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) that highlights the importance of mental health as part of overall health. In Cochrane, the week’s programming offers something for all ages and interests, creating opportunities for residents to gather, learn and strengthen community connections.
Residents can take part in a range of inclusive activities throughout the week, including community conversations, fitness classes, art workshops, fishing and gardening outings and programs for parents and children. These events create welcoming spaces where people can connect with others while exploring strategies that support mental well-being.
As part of the week, FCSS and Cochrane Rotary present Pathways to Mental Health at Riverside Park. The installation features encouraging messages, mental wellness tips and information about local resources, inviting residents to pause, reflect and support their well-being while enjoying the outdoors.
Support for mental wellness in Cochrane continues year-round. FCSS works with community partners to promote mental well-being and connect residents with services and resources. The website cochranecares.ca serves as a central hub where residents find local supports, self-care strategies and community stories—whether they are seeking help, supporting someone else or looking to learn more.
“Mental Health Week is an opportunity for our community to come together and remind one another that we do not have to navigate life’s challenges alone,” says Kim Krawec, Manager of FCSS. “Working alongside our community partners, we create welcoming and practical opportunities for Cochranites to prioritize mental well-being during Mental Health Week and throughout the year.”
