As part of next week’s regular Council meeting, Administration will be presenting Council with the first draft of the 2024-2026 operating and capital budgets. The proposed budget, shaped by public input received in May and June of 2023, aligns closely with Council’s strategic priorities, ensuring the continued well-being of Cochrane and its residents.

This budget supports the need to maintain essential services while remaining mindful of the economic impacts caused by inflation. By addressing these key priorities and considerations, Cochrane aims to deliver a budget that enhances the quality of life for its residents and strengthens the community's foundation.

“Budgets are more than just numbers; they are the embodiment of our community's values and aspirations,” said Stacey Loe, Executive Director of Corporate Services. “Our 2024-2026 budget reflects our continued commitment to organizational resilience, financial and environmental stewardship, a thriving built environment, and nurturing intentional relationships.”

Administration will present the proposed budget to Council on Tuesday, October 24, and provide Council with an overview and insight into how the budget was formed. The next important milestone in the budget process will be Council's budget deliberations, scheduled to start on November 14.

Residents interested in learning more about the proposed budget and the budget process are invited to attend a public information session on Friday, October 27 from 4-8p.m. and Saturday, October 28 from 10a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Spray Lake Sawmills Centre.
