(Cochrane, AB) – The Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP), offered by Cochrane Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) provides eligible residents assistance with filing their 2022 income taxes.

The program, run by FCSS and supported by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), assists eligible low-income residents with a simple tax situation file their annual income taxes. Working with trained community volunteers, the program helps residents access necessary and applicable government benefits.

“This important service would not be possible without our community volunteers,” says Kim Krawec, Manager of FCSS, Town of Cochrane. “Last year, two volunteers contributed over 225 hours and assisted with filing 613 tax returns. The tax assistance provided through this program has positively impacted hundreds of seniors, children and low-income individuals by ensuring they receive all obtainable benefits.”

Program support is currently being offered and appointments can be booked until the 2022 tax filing deadline on April 30, 2023.
