Cochrane’s Canada Day celebrations kick off early with a morning full of tradition, community and fun at the Royal Canadian Legion, Cochrane Branch. Residents are invited to don their red and white and start the day with a pancake breakfast from 9 a.m. to noon — $3 for adults, $2 for kids aged 6 to 12, and free for children under 6.
The morning festivities include live music and a flag-raising ceremony at 11:30 a.m., followed by complimentary Canada Day cupcakes. Mayor Jeff Genung and members of Cochrane Council will be in attendance, handing out small Canadian flags and tattoos while supplies last, and joining the community in celebrating national pride.
“Canada Day is a time to come together as a community, to celebrate our shared history, our freedoms, and the values that make us proud to call Cochrane home. This day is about more than fireworks and festivities - it’s about honouring our past, embracing our present, and looking forward to the future we build together. Whether at the Legion in the morning or Mitford Park at night, this celebration belongs to all of us, and I hope to see up there.”
The celebration continues at Mitford Park from noon onward, featuring live entertainment, family-friendly activities, food trucks, a beer garden and games - all leading up to a spectacular fireworks finale to cap off the night.
