Community Investment Grant Program Sparks Community Connection

Cochrane residents and local groups planning an event or festival in 2023 can apply for municipal grant funding support. Until May 1, Cochrane is accepting applications for the Community Investment Grant Program (CIGP). Projects, events and festivals led by non-profit societies are eligible for matching funding through small- and large-scale grants.

Since 2012, Cochrane Council and Administration have actively supported these opportunities to bring Cochranites together. Through the program, Cochrane partners with not-for-profit societies to start or continue an event, fostering a sense of unity and belonging while bringing people together to celebrate and have fun.

“The passion, creativity and dedication of people that live, work and volunteer in Cochrane is unmatched,” says Mitchell Hamm, Director, Community Services, Town of Cochrane. “This grant program is an exciting opportunity to amplify the efforts of groups bringing people together, creating joy and sparking connection.”

The community grant program is open to not-for-profit societies within Cochrane. Projects, events and festivals that are accessible, inclusive, and engaging for all residents with a focus on arts, culture, heritage, community building, and environmental stewardship are ideal initiatives supported by the grant. In 2022, 14 small-scale projects and events and three large-scale events were successful in receiving matching funding from the Community Investment Grant Program.

"Everyone has the power to make a positive impact in the community," adds Mayor Jeff Genung, Town of Cochrane. "Large or small, we hope this grant program will inspire and support community members to deliver events that bring our community together.”

Applications will be evaluated on their community goals and enrichment in alignment with the Community Investment Grant Program and Cochrane’s Strategic Plan.
