Application Deadline Extended For Art Task Force

(Cochrane, AB) – A task force is being assembled to support the selection and installation of commissioned art works and displays at the Cochrane Crossing Civic Plaza.

Including up to six public-at-large members, the task force will complete a call for artists, review submissions and make recommendations on artwork to be installed.

“Engaging the community has always been important to Council and Administration,” says Mitchell Hamm, Community Services Director, Town of Cochrane. “The task force will involve a cross-section of future Cochrane Crossing users in making the civic plaza a great place to gather in the heart of our community.”

Residents of Cochrane and the surrounding area are encouraged to apply to the task force, helping to define and embody Cochrane’s values, diversity and strong spirit that will ultimately be represented through the art installations. During the application process, applicants will be invited to share their experience in engineering, design, landscape architects and art or art curation.

Applications for the Cochrane Crossing Civic Plaza Art Task Force are available at the Committees page. The deadline for application submissions has been extended until August 21.

Earlier this year, Cochrane was selected as a recipient of $750,000 in federal funding through the Canada Community Revitalization Fund (CCRF), allowing for art installation at the Cochrane Crossing Civic Plaza. The Art Task force will act as advisors to Council and Administration and support the direction of this funding for commissioned art.
