Cochrane tax bills sent out early to support residents

(Cochrane, AB) – In anticipation of a potential Canada Post labour disruption, the Town of Cochrane proactively mailed property tax bills to all residents on May 15 to help ensure timely delivery. This early action was taken to minimize the risk of delays in mail delivery and to support timely access to important Town-issued documents.

Residents who had enrolled in paperless billing by May 20 also received their tax notices via email.

Property taxes are due June 30, 2025. To provide flexibility and avoid reliance on the postal system, the Town offers a variety of convenient, mail-free payment options:

  • Tax Installment Payment Plan (TIPP): Monthly payments are automatically withdrawn from a personal chequing account on the 15th of each month. Apply online: www.cochrane.ca/tipp
  • Online banking: Cochrane is registered with all major banks and credit unions. Payments can be made in person or through online and mobile banking platforms, under bill payment and using your roll number for account number
  • Drop box payments: Payments may be submitted at two secure drop box locations outside of regular business hours at the Cochrane RancheHouse (101 RancheHouse Rd) or FCSS (202 2nd Ave W)
  • In person or by mail: Payments can also be made at The RancheHouse or The Station (360 Railway St.) or sent by post; however, envelopes must be postmarked June 30th or prior to avoid a penalty on July 1st.

Residents are reminded that credit cards and e-transfers are not accepted for property tax payments.

Utility bills were last mailed on May 7, with the next billing date set for June 9. By enrolling in paperless billing, residents can ensure timely delivery and uninterrupted access to their account information.

Business licences are available for in-person pickup at The Station (360 Railway St.). Residents and business owners are advised to plan accordingly in anticipation of potential mail delays.

To avoid interruptions in service and ensure timely access to Town-issued communications, residents are encouraged to sign up for paperless billing. This secure and convenient service delivers tax notices, utility bills, assessment notices, and other communications directly to residents via email.

As an added incentive, residents who sign up for paperless billing will be automatically entered to win a $100 gift card.
