(Cochrane, AB) – Cochrane pet owners received their 2023 animal licence renewal notice by mail or email this month. A payment is required to complete your renewal and keep your pet’s licence up to date.
Cochrane’s Animal Bylaw, Bylaw 04/2016 (PDF), requires all dogs and cats over the age of three months to be licensed. Renewed annually in January, licensing your animal is an important part of responsible pet ownership.
“If your pet gets lost, an animal licence is the best way to ensure your pet is returned home,” says Katherine Van Keimpema, Executive Director of Corporate Services, Town of Cochrane. “Animal licence fees help to provide emergency care and shelter to animals and support the waste bag dispenser program throughout Cochrane.”
Pet owners can complete their payment online through their online banking services or Cochrane’s eServices portal. In person payments can be completed at The Station or Cochrane RancheHouse, Monday-Friday from 8:30am-4:30pm. 2023 animal licence payments are due on February 5, 2023; any unpaid animal licences will be deactivated on February 28. Owners can contact animal.licences@cochrane.ca if they did not receive a renewal notice.
