(Cochrane, AB) – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Town of Cochrane is launching a community-wide survey to gather input from residents on the future of policing in our community.

As part of a broader review of local policing services, the Town has engaged Western Management Consultants (WMC) to explore various service delivery models. This study is focused on ensuring Cochrane’s policing services continue to meet the needs of our growing and evolving community.

“This is about planning for the future,” says said Jay Judin, Director of Community Safety, Town of Cochrane. “We want to understand what’s working, what could be improved, and what residents expect from their local policing services.”

The study will assess three key areas:

  • How safe residents feel in the community
  • Trust and satisfaction with current policing services
  • Perceived value for money in policing

Importantly, this review was initiated before the Province of Alberta announced the formation of the new Alberta Sheriffs Police Service and is not being driven by that announcement.

Have Your Say

As part of the public engagement phase, Cochrane residents are invited to share their experiences and perspectives through an online survey between August 5-19th, 2025.

Survey results will feed into a final report from WMC, including findings and recommendations. This report will guide future discussions and decisions by Town Council.
