Cochrane is updating its waste collection routes to maintain efficient and reliable service for all residents. Beginning the week of September 15, 2025, changes to waste, recycling and organics collection schedules will come into effect. These changes may affect your regular collection days.
These changes are the result of a data-driven collaboration between Cochrane Waste & Recycling Services and BluPlanet Recycling, the Town’s waste collection partner since December 2024. Over the past several months, BluPlanet’s trucks, equipped with advanced technology including GPS tracking and route analytics, have been collecting real-time data to evaluate current routes and identify opportunities for improvement.
“The update to collection routes is grounded in data collected through collection truck GPS tracking and cameras. With fully equipped BluPlanet trucks, we have learned more about route times and the most impacted neighbourhoods by missed cart collection,” says Shawn Tooth, Director of Utilities, Town of Cochrane. “Adjusting our zones for collection will improve collection efficiency and reliability, while ensuring we’re prepared to meet Cochrane’s future growth.”
Residents can view their new waste collection schedule at cochrane.ca/collection or through the My Cochrane Collection app. You can:
• search by your home address
• sign up for free reminders by email, phone or app notification
Residents who have already subscribed to updates will be automatically notified when changes to the new collection dates take effect.
“We encourage everyone to check their schedule in advance,” adds Tooth. “Signing up for a reminder to roll your cart out on your new collection days could help you and your neighbour never miss a pickup day.”
