This program provides citizens with an opportunity to honour loved ones, families or groups by having a bench or picnic table with a beautiful bronze plaque installed on municipal property. This program is intended to memorialize people and is not extended to animals.
Memorial furniture is purchased by the citizen through the Town of Cochrane and donated to the Town for placement in various parks, pathways, playgrounds and open spaces. Accordingly the Town will maintain the donated items.
Purchase price includes: choice of furniture, plaque, installation and a ten-year (10) guarantee of maintenance to furniture and plaque. In the event a plaque sustains irreparable damage, a onetime replacement will be provided by the Town. Subsequent replacements during the 10 year period will be the responsibility of the purchaser.
The furniture will be kept in place as long as it is serviceable beyond the 10 year period. When a piece of furniture is no longer serviceable, applicants will be contacted through the information on file and given the opportunity to purchase a new bench or table under the terms and conditions then in effect.
Upon receipt of all fees, the Town of Cochrane will issue a donation receipt.
Applications will be accepted between Jan. 1 - May 31 annually. There is a limited number available each year. Memorial furniture is installed between August and October of annually.
