(Cochrane, AB) — The Town of Cochrane has received the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the second consecutive year—clear validation that Cochrane’s budget continues to meet national standards for public-sector budgeting excellence. The recognition underscores Council’s and Administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and service outcomes for residents.
The GFOA program evaluates whether a municipal budget meets 15 mandatory criteria and performs across four disciplines: policy document, financial plan, operations guide, and communications document. Cochrane’s submission once again met or in some cases, exceeded benchmarks
“Back-to-back recognition signals disciplined planning and a focus on building trust. Residents deserve a budget that is clear, understandable, and aligned to community priorities—and that’s what this award confirms. Cochrane is executing on responsible fiscal management while investing in core services. This award is one indicator that our processes are robust and our information is accurate.” said Alvin Allim, CPA, CFO.
