Provincial roadways

Traffic is a top priority for most Cochranites. Our community is intersected by two provincial highways, and it’s crucial these routes are well-maintained to support local traffic and the daily flow of goods, services and people.

Both Cochrane and the Province have made significant investments in building and upgrading roads and pathways. However, more investment is needed to address ongoing challenges.

Investments that are shaping Cochrane

Jack Tennant Memorial Bridge

This $53 million bridge is a second link across the Bow River, connecting north and south Cochrane. The project was completed in fall 2020.

Highway 1A improvements

This project widened highway 1A from two lanes to four and improved the pedestrian network. Major construction was completed in fall 2023, with final touches made in summer 2024.
