September 7, 2022: Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) has scheduled the closure of the River Avenue track crossing for rehabilitation Sept 9-12. The work will include the removal of the old track and replacement with a new concrete crossing surface, as well as improved pedestrian accommodation. River Avenue will be closed between First Street East and Railway Street East for both pedestrian and vehicular traffic from the evening of Friday, September 9 until the evening of Monday, September 12. Please use an alternate route, such as Centre Avenue.
As part of this project the existing crossing at River avenue has reached its service life and is becoming a hazard to vehicle traffic due to the rough surface. The existing rubber product will be replaced with pre-cast concrete to improve the crossing. In addition, there is currently no pedestrian link on the East side of River avenue through the CPR right-of-way which will be enhanced to provide more connectivity.
Total project budget: 820,000
